Wellington Phoenix is the only team in the Hyundai A-League from New Zealand, they replaced the now defunct New Zealand Nights in the 2007 – 2008 season.
About Wellington Phoenix FC
During the late stages of the 2006- 2007 season the FFA removed the New Zealand Knights liscence due to financial and administrative problems, after much work and consideration and the withdrawal of the TFA bid Wellington Phoenix was chosen to represent New Zealand in the A-League under a 3 year liscence.
Currently this is their first season in the Hyundai A-League and the team has made a promising start.
