Sydney FC was founded in 2004 and are the Winners of the Innagural 2005-2006 Season of the Hyundai A-League. Sydney FC has been marketed from the beginning of the competition as the Glamour Club of the league.
About Sydney FC
Sydney FC where founded in 2004 when Football NSW (then soccer New South Wales) made a bid to have a licence in the new soccer league being developed , in November 2008 Sydney was officially launched as one of the 8 teams in the new Hyundai A-League.
The first competitive match that Sydney FC partook in was against Queensland Roar, at Gosford stadium, they won this match and went on to defeat Perth Glory and the Central Coast Mariners as well allowing them to qualify for the Oceania Club Championship. Here they won all their matches and qualified for the 2005 FIFA Club World Championship in Japan, this was truly a stellar start for a new team and Sydney is still considered one of the best teams in the league.
