This tour would later be returned when some local Australians decided to tour England in 1868.

These continued tours went well on throughout the century on to the year 1882, at which point Australia beat England on their own turf. This sparked massive media uproar, during which one particular reported satirically stated that England’s cricket was going to be cremated and sent to Australia. The next year, England returned and dubbed the tour “The quest to regain the ashes”. Thus, The Ashes was born- a biennial cup that takes place in England and Australia alternately.
